I have to say that the only real debarking I hear about is done at puppymills and it's EVIL and cruel. I have never known a debarked dog but I would have to think people who live in apartments or tight living conditions may be guilty of this also. I've HEARD people ask why certain dogs weren't debarked in an apartment complex I lived in once....

I have never heard of this practice in my reading about show dogs and can imagine a select few have done this....but I really doubt it is a common thing. The shows I've been to (not many but enough to say I've been)... I heard little yaps coming from the small doggies. Usually when they were just sitting around near the big grooming area.

In the ring I believe their training kicks in and they just strut their stuff....
