I appreciate your responses. Just for clarification, Lucky is actually a "teapot" (ha ha) yorkie, weighing in at around 11 lbs, so she is a bit quicker, stronger, and heavier than a little one. The land is pretty much flat and the woods and fields are a fair distance away, so she would not be really in too much danger in the yard itself. My main fear is that the fence wouldn't work and she would run onto the county highway which is about 1/4 to 1/2 mile away. We would never leave her outside unsupervised for very long, even with a fence, but she can cover a lot of ground in a few minutes. I now question if the fence would work for Lucky due to her incredible determination. I just wish there would be some way to let her run around a bit. She would love it! I'm not sure we can afford a real fence to surround the entire lot and it might look somwhat ridiculous.
