Ollie cried at night too when she was crated. She cried loud and frequently. I finally took the door off of the crate and blocked off the laundry area so she had more space. She sleeps in the crate, with the door off, her food and pee pad are in the area also.

Welcome to YT. You will get lots of different suggestions. Try different ones until you find one that works for you.
I agree. I think you have some great ideas here...Yorkies need their people. Maybe after he is potty trained you could think about letting him sleep in the same bedroom with you too, so you both have more time together....
