Thanks | I have posted on this topic a few times in other threads. We have the Petsafe hidden fence that you are considering. Fagan weighs 7.9 lbs now and we had the fence installed last August. I think he weighed between 6 and 7 lbs then. In the summer pics of him in my avitar he has his collar on and you can hardley tell he has it on unless you look carefully. he wears it very comfortably, some times all day if the kids leave it on him. The collar makes a sound before the dog even gets close to the edge of the fence where he might get a small shock. During training, he had to get a shock to learn where the line is. He never made a sound. He shook his head a little like he had an itch in his ear or something but that was it. I also rarely have to even put his collar on because he just knows how far he can go. I mostly am careful to have his collar on in the front yard because of cars. I had invisible fence (a different company) Installed in my kitchen 15 years ago for my two other dogs we had, that collar had a much bigger jolt than the Petsafe collar. I have felt them both. The petsafe system was a tingle on the lowest setting. the invisible fence shock was more jolting. That is why we chose Petsafe for out side when we put in a new sysytem. We have been very happy with our Petsafe system. My 30 lb Corgi is more bothered by the collar than Fagan. I have it all ready to go for the kitchen so I can stop using gates but the Corgi is more nervous on the system. Fagan couldn't care less. Doesn't bother him one bit. He continues to have a wonderfull loving personality. He is not at all aggressive and loves people of all shapes and sizes. Good luck with whatever you decide is best for you. ( Ok, can someone please give me a hand climbing down from my soap box?!?) |
