Don't turn into a "stool watcher!!" .... joking, of course. But, on a more serious vein, dog's (like people's) stools vary from time to time --which is perfectly normal. Things that affect their stools aren't just the food they eat (which is an important cause, of course) - but also their activity level, the amount of fluids they drink, and many other things.
When stool changes occur from time to time (which is natural), if you're concerned, the most important thing to note is their sense of well being. Are they being their usually, playful, active, healthy selves? And, allowing a day or two (unless there is unusual bleeding) for things to return to normal is a good thing to do.
You know - most of my dogs have always gone to the bathroom outside. You know what this means - it means I generally never even saw their stools - and it also means that I never worried about them. However, I am certainly the first person in the world to notice whether or not my dogs are feeling well - or not being their usual selves.
***** I don't worry about my dog's sleeping -- I envy them!!!!!! And- per my vet - healthy dog's noses aren't cool and wet 100% of the time.
