Once a year may be fine. But, I know that Bichions (I have one) have bad teeth just like Yorkies do.

I had my 4-year-old Bichon at the vet's six months or so ago - and he looked in his mouth and said that he should probably get his teeth cleaned sometime this next year.

So - since all dogs are different (and all Yorkies are different) - I would get them cleaned prn (as needed). Let your vet check your pup's teeth occasionally (at least once a year), and he'll tell you when they need cleaning.

My pup is 9 months old, and his teeth are as clean as snow - so far. Of course, he hasn't had some of them very long yet - right!
