I had the same problem with my climber rose bush. it was covered in aphids! someone in one of my design classes, who was an avid gardner, gave me a completely natural, successful solution.

~PLANT GARLIC BULBS IN THE GROUND NEXT TO THE ROSES~

I happened to have a sprouting garlic bulb in the fridge. (i know, gross.)

I planted it and never saw another aphid on that bush. No harsh chemicals, no need for marigolds.......
