Yorkie4Me -- I agree with you 100%. The type of hair that a little Yorkie has is - I'm going to say "entirely genetic." BUT - of course, all things being equal - even we have nicer hair if we take good care of it.
It certainly seems to be the ones who have the little Yorkies with difficult to manage hair that are on the search for products to make it better and more manageable.
My Yorkie isn't perfect - but he does have beautiful hair. And - I do nothing, but shampoo him occasionally with a somewhat "generic dog shampoo." (I can't even tell you what kind.) And - his hair never tangles or matts, and it actually glows when lights shine on it. Lucky me!
