  Well, since I started this thread, I’d like to thank everyone for their input. I was just curious and you’ve collectively answered my question! 
 Sounds like the major consensus is that it is because of supply and demand and there’s a minor consensus that it’s because females can be bred.
 
 I was specifically looking for a little boy because of temperament – I wanted a lap puppy – so, a lower price was just a bonus for me. I couldn’t help but be curious about why he cost less. I know, I know, some say girls are just as sweet, but he’s my first one and you can’t blame me for stacking the deck. As fun as he is, I’ll probably end up with a girl too! If one yorkie is good, more is better and many are best, right?
