Absolutely! And the bag doesn't even need to be close to it's experation date.
It happens. Maybe there was a hole in the bag somewhere (tiny one) and air got in there and spoiled it as it was sitting on the shelf. There are a thousand things that could be wrong w/ it. I'd take it back to the store if you've opened it within the past week OR just throw it away and start again.
