He's sleeping now but I've learned that he's just too small for a collar. I've also just read it can affect his trachea! I'm getting him a harness... Any ideas where I can get one? He's super small and so fragile! I'm a nervous wreck around him! I even bring him to the office!! |
Someone told me that yorkies should never wear a collar because their throat is so small and I cant remember the name of the part of the throat she said. So I got Kizzy an adjustable harness from the ferret department of our Pet store. its very tiny and its pink of course. I had to take it up a lot when I got it but i've had to let it out some already, but she walks good with it and If i have to tighten the leash up to make her stop I dont have to worry about hurting her throat. This one you just put one leg in it and it makes an X cross over her back and then just pull the other end around her other leg and hook it. So it doesnt have to go over her head. I am glad I was told not to get a collar as it makes me feel better whether its true or not as to whether they should have a collar around their neck or not. But since it is for a ferret it is so light. She was 1 lb first time I used it on her and I got a smally puppy ( but you can use a cat least if your puppy is gonna stay real small so its not to hard for them to pull out more leash) leash that has the handle to stop or let them run and pull out more leash and she does good with it. she lets me put the harness on with no problems. If it had been heavier I dont think she could pull the leash out at all.
