Dogs aren't totally color blind- but they don't see color nearly as well as we do.

I find it hard to believe that "red" would cause a dog to urinate. If this were true, this would have become a well established fact long before now. And -
wouldn't we all be using "red potty pads?"

Dog's peeing on a fire hydrant is not because it is the color red - but rather because it is just the "perfect shape" for a little dog to pee on - especially when he is on sidewalks and streets with no bushes. And - then, of course, after one dog has pee'd on it, every dog smells it, and it soon becomes the perfect for all dogs to pee (especially males).

PS: My neighborhood has "yellow fire hydrants" and they still get pee'd on a lot.
