 Here's how we are learning the "come" command
Fagan and I are in beginner obedience class now. The way the trainer is teaching us the "come" command is this way: She put Fagan on a long leash and held him close to her. I start right up to him, show him a treat and back up a good distance(several Feet). Then I give the command "Fagan Come" she lets him go and when he gets to me he gets the treat. To practice at home I just have one of the boys hold onto him and follow the steps above. Now we are at the point where I don't show him the treat, I just have one of the boys hold him then I go a good distance away and give the command. He comes to me and now we have added a sit at the end before he gets the treat. He does great and now will "come" whenever I call him from anywhere in the house. Just keep practicing. We practice all the commands we have learned in class every day. Good luck. |
