We've had Jaxon since mid January and this was the first time he's had such a harsh cough. He often comes into contact with other dogs - Petsmart, occassionally doggie daycare, plus our neighbour has a lab. We were supposed to start obedience last night but didn't go because of the cough. His temperature at the vet yesterday was 102.

He didn't have the cough overnight and his poops were back to normal today, plus his appetite is better. I know when I've had a major cough, the doctor can't give you anything because it's viral and they have you let it run it's course. Guess I'm wondering if KC is viral too, then why the medication?? Sounds like so many owners here have re-occuring KC - maybe it's something more and the meds are just prolonging it????

I gave him the amoxicillan last night - he didn't like it and I had to quickly shoot it down. I haven't used the Torbutrol tabs yet.

My husband is a doctor and he is somewhat opposed to just giving Jaxon medication. Guess we're a little overprotective but just want the best for our little guy.
