We have coyotes too! I would never trust them and wouldn't leave my pup outside alone after dark. I have heard that they will hunt in a pack. One will approach a dog and act like it's going to play and then the others will pounce on it. My husband and I have been awakened out of a dead sleep several times with coyotes howling outside. It is the ugliest, eeriest sound you ever heard!!
