How did you determine that Lacy was hypo and did not have shunts? That's the question I have for the vet. She, the vet, is doing a bile acids test and will have the results tomorrow. I guess what I don't understand is why did the pup do so well for the two weeks after initial treatment (for coccidiosis) and then lapse? If a liver shunt is present then why and/or how did the puppy thrive for 2 weeks with absolutely NO symptoms? I will admit that it is odd he hasn't gained an ounce of weight in 2 weeks...stuck at 1.7lbs. He ate like a horse, a small one, but a horse nonetheless. Where did all that food go? His bowel movements were normal in number and consistency was good. I am flumoxed and I realize I am asking a lot of questions that can't be answered clinically...but anybody that has anything to add it would be greatly appreciated. Especially if your dog has/had shunts. Thanks in advance.
