Wink Not So Standard Yorkie

Sure, we all celebrate the standard Yorkie. The one with the perfect coat, length, height, weight, colors, ears, teeth, tail and temperament. It stands to reason these are all guidelines that make a Yorkie conform to the standard. But let's be real. How many of us really have a furball that is perfect enough to show? My little boy has big, floppy ears. He has a thick, wooly coat. He has double canines and is on the thin side. But despite all the things that make him "non-standard," to me he is the cutest, sweetest little boy in the world. So this here is my tribute to all those little yorkies out there that are too small, too big, too curly, too floppy, too fat, too skinny and too irregular looking. Here's to all those yorkie owners who have been asked "are you sure that's a purebreed?" While these dogs may not win ribbons at the Westminster show, they have all won top dog trophies in our hearts.
