Okay...update. Get to vet at 8:00 (when they open) and vet takes him straight back. His body temp is 91....can you believe that? 91! His temp was normal here at the house before I took the 25 min ride to the vets office. Anyway, sugar WAS low...34...crazy huh? I gave him nutrical last night but I couldn't get him to swallow anything this morning. So, talked to vet at about 2:30 and she said he's alert and doing well. 50% dextrose in the jugular did wonders. Also, NO coccidia in the fecal exam. Vet is worried about liver shunts. Can anyone fill me in on the symptoms of shunts? I am totally amazed that this dog is alive at all. He had a seizure on me on the way to the vets this morning and I thought for sure he wouldn't make it. He's a real fighter, that's for sure. Please though, someone tell me about shunts. Thanks for all thoughts and prayers. Please keep my little girl in your prayers too...she is so torn up over this....and now I have to say to her that he MIGHT be better, but he may have shunts and may not make it. Thanks for any help.
