Default Cancer of the skin in Yorkies?

Have any of you out there ever had a Yorkie that had an open sore for over a year that just would not heal? I have posted this here before but not with what I read today. I was reading a dog book and it stated that a sore that would not heal or a recurring sore could be cancer. A couple of vets have looked at this sore on Oscar and did not think much of it. They said if it would not go away, they could remove it. I think I will have it removed (I hate to have to put him under anesthesia again) but I think it should be tested to be sure. What are some of your thoughts on this and have any of you ever seen this or been thru this with your Yorkies or other dogs? I just thought it was a pesky sore but after today, I am worried it could be something more. The sore itself is about the size of a regular M&M and oozes a clear liquid that causes caking in the hair. I keep the hair clipped and clean with peroxide and apply Bactoderm but it will not go away.
