I have the same problem with my sami when I am off to work or to retrieve mail, and the only thing that helps me is I pick him up and take him with me to get the mail when I go to work I put him in the hallway where it is gated and I also put another gate on top of the bottom gate! so there are two gates one on top of the other, the gates are swinging gates so you can install
