I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT where I live in North Carolina. We had a house fire yesterday, and the house was pretty much gone. I was on a hoseline with one of my friends outside the house. I looked up in time to see two of my fellow firefighters running out of the house, each with a Yorkie in their arms, soaking wet and gagging. Just about the entire house had been burning for a half hour at this point. The first thing I thought of was, Oh, no, they're dead. I dropped the hose I was on, ran over to where they were with the dogs, and grabbed one of them away from my friend. They started screaming to give them oxygen. We let them inhale oxygen for about 10 minutes and then sent them back to their owners. I couldn't believe it! They were found in about 6 inches of water not far from where one of the rooms was burning! I have never been so relieved in my life! All I could think of was, My dog! I think that's the happiest I've ever been going to a call like that! What strong little dogs these are!
