I was told the dose is 1mg per pound of dog. I have 2 yorkies. 1 is 2.5 lbs and the other is about 6 lbs. I use the children's liquid benedryl which, I believe is 5mg per tsp(5ml)-but don't quote me on that. I haven't had to use it in a while. Make sure you check your own bottle for the mg/ml. Anyway, what I did was simple math. and if it is 1mg/ml then I'd give 2.5ml to the little one and 6 ml to the bigger one. I usually gave it to them shortly before bed because benedryl is infamous for making people (and dogs) sleepy. In fact, some people use it as a mild sleep aid. That's what's in Tylenol PM.

The liquid was pretty easy to give in a child's oral syringe that I purchased. Much easier than trying to trick them into eating a pill or forcing them to choke it down.

I only give it to them when they're showing signs of allergies like excessive itching (with no other reason), excessive paw licking (with no other reason), or sneezing.

Good Luck
