I have never heard that rice was a no-no for dogs. It is carbs and digestible fiber mostly and very bland..that is why vets recommend it as a rule.
You asked about yogurt.. I NEVER give my dogs of any age a dairy product that is not 100% lactose reduced. If the dog is sensitive to it, the diarrhea can be worsened by the milk sugar, lactose. If a puppy needs beneficial bowel bacteria, yogurt will not be a good supplier of them--the content is not high enough. Either buy BeneBac for dogs and cats OR acidophilus for humans. Just put a small amt of the BeneBac in the puppy's mouth. If acidophilus, sprinkle about 1/4 the powder from a capsule on the food or on the tongue. These antibiotics can be so helpful but when over-used or given in appropriately, our babies little digestive systems need help, FAST! I must use acidophilus with any antibiotic or I have real trouble.
If your baby does not get well soon, would you consider acupuncture or a holistic approach for treatment? |
