I also think that before you get a little pup - that is going to probably live 15 years or more -- give the future a though!

But - other than this - not all of us, but many of us live in homes where both people work. This has never kept us from having pets. It would be wonderful being a stay-at-home mother for a little pup (or our children more so) -- but this isn't the way the world is today.

Almost any breed can become accustomed to being home alone for the better part of the day (the average dog sleeps 14 to 16 hours a day).
If they start out this way as a young puppy - they become used to it quickly.

DAMAGE - There are no little puppies that don't do their fair share of damage. You just have to be aware of what little puppies can do and puppy-proof your house as much as possible. Another important consideration is that a lot of the damage that little puppies do - is puppy stuff and is quickly outgrown. And, a well trained, older dog does only a fraction of the damage that one little two-pound pup can do. (Your environment, your dog's age and how you train it are important factors to consider.)

Puppies - (all breeds) poop, pee, and chew!!!!!!! So get ready!!!!

Realistically - a small dog such as a Yorkie (just because of its size) can't do as much damage as a larger puppy might do.

Good luck -
