Question Spray Bottle Phobia

Ok...So Bailey was neutered a week or so ago, and isn't going to the groomer for another 5 days ( for the first time ) , being spring it is a little wet and muddy outside, we have been working on our walking training as well as the no barking when we meet up with other dogs or people. Since we got him a month ago I have tryed to make sure he is comfortable with bathing and brushing, he doesn't like to be brushed so I have learned to do it during one of his down times. He is ok with the brush and comb now, but the conditioning spray , he hates it, I have tryed putting it directly on the comb and it just goes to the one spot that the brush or comb first goes through. I have tryed putting it in my palms and rubbing him down a bit, he gets mad, runs off and licks it all off... I i could get him to allow me to spray it on him quickly It would be soo much better. I have tryed 3 different types too, in case it was the smell he didn't like, but it is the spraying he hates.. any advice would be sooooo appreciated, he is getting a little rough looking... Thank you all sooo much!
