I keep mine in the supposed air tight container too!
When I was at the feed store picking up my dog food one day the guy there told me to keep it in its original bag also so it didn't lose its freshness. He said it would also pick up the taste of whatever type of container it was in. Don't know if that's true or not but I keep mine in the bag now inside the air tight container.
