IMHO,
for 3k-10k, i would expect at the very least:
- documentation for all possible health/genetic tests of the parents
- documentation for all possible health/genetic tests of the puppy
- a lengthy if not lifetime guarantee against congential defects
- papered registration from akc
- documented pedigree
- champions in pedigree
- written guarantee of adult size (if i'm paying 10k for a 2 lb adult, i better be getting a puppy that will become a 2 lb adult)
- written guarantee of dog conforming to breed standards
- a nice puppy goodie package
for the under 1k range, i wouldn't expect all that. it would be a crapshoot as far as how healthy and free of genetic defects, and how many tests were done of the parents as well as the puppy. some will fare well, some will not. |
