Lot's of good advice here. We have introduced new pets to the house and for the most part haven't had any problem. One thing we did that seemed to really help was not introduce the pets to each with the whole family around. Removing the other family members helped get rid of the pets need to protect while they were getting to know each other. We had one puppy that was trying to investigate a cat and a neighbor child picked up the cat and threw it on the puppy. We were so mad. The cat went crazy and scratched the puppy badly right on her nose. That dog hated cats from that moment on. If she hadn't had that first bad experience she may never have been that way.
