Years ago - I had a cat that was afraid of my husband. He'd hear his truck driving up and run and hide behind the sofa - and then not come out all evening.

Unfortunately, my husband (former husband) wasn't nice to any of us...not to me and not to his children either. I don't think he ever hurt the cat, but believe the cat was just afraid of his tone of voice and the way he treated everyone in the family.

I'm sure your husband isn't like mine was, but it is amazing how animals can pick up on what's going on - and how quickly they can become fearful of some people.
