I do not place in homes with young children. WHY? Because although your child is gentle, sweet, careful and all of the other things I hear, they have friends in to play and the child must then become doggie police. Their personality can make that really hard to tell their friends what to do. AND, I know we think we will wupervise them all the time, but the fact is that privacy is a part of a child's expectations when growing up. Parents should not be with the child all the time. And, believe me, it is not possible to keep your eye on the dog every minute of every day. I do interview people face to face 2 times and do extensive interviews on the phone so I know pretty much whom I will be interviewing.
I also do not sell to smokers! And, since I do not smoke, I can smell cigs when they come in my front door. People who are gone for a full workday do not place high on my list unless they can take vacation time to bond and acclimate the puppy. If they can have someone come in a couple of times a day, that is a real PLUS+.
My puppies grow into smallish adults so I am responsible for placing them in the safest and best home I can. I have only 1-2 litters a year at most, and I can take the time to interview and be more selective..I am glad that y'all have found caring breeders who placed one of their babies in your home. |
