If your baby does not have any trouble breathing or does not have hives all over or all the other signs that humans exhibit when they have an "anaphylactic reaction" (that means really bad and all over the body) I would just use something on the skin to relieve itching. There are 2 things I CANNOT be without in my first aid box-1) OraJel -Max. strength and 2) aloe with benzocaine which I keep in the frig...Either of those have a numbing effect and will help with pain and itching when applied to the area.. Use bitter apple or coat saver or something that keeps them from chewing and that will help with the licking..
I hope this helps a little in lieu of a vet but I am not an expert. Just had a lot of experience with my dogs and in human nursing...
