The size of a Yorkie has nothing to do with AKC registration. It has to do with the standard, which is the blue print for breeding. A breeder should strive to stay within the standard..meaning, breed Yorkies that stay 7 and under. AKC would register a 20 pound Yorkie and if breeders are not careful that is how big they could get..

There is nothing wrong with a big Yorkie, we love them all, but a breeder who wants to produce to the standard, and IMO that is the only reason to breed..for the betterment of the breed we adore...that breeder will make every effort to breed correctly..IMO.
