You would need to introduce them gradually to each other. For instance, keep your little puppy in a crate when you first bring it in the house, and then let the cat sniff him, and the puppy will get a chance to sniff the cat, too. Give your kitty lots of attention and maybe an extra treat or two at first. They'll get used to each other, and I'll bet they'll become best buds. My son had a 2 year old cat and then got a tiny chihuahua puppy. The cat was offended at first, but now they run and chase and roll around together and have a wonderful time.

We no longer have cats since we travel a lot and they didn't like travelling. When Higgins sees a neighborhood cat.....he trees it! Little devil.
