Congratulations! Bringing home a new puppy is so exciting. I don't know if anyone has suggested a playpen yet. My boyfriend and I bought a children's playpen at Toy's R Us and we put Benji's food, pad, crate and some toys in there. For a month we didn't let him leave his playpen until we went potty on the pee pad. Every time he did, my boyfriend and I went crazy and did a "pee pee dance". Believe me, they love getting praised. Now Benji runs and finds me and sits pretty to let me know that he has peed or pooped on the pad. It is all about confining them into an aread until they know where to go. I also suggest placing him in the pen on a routine basis. For example, every time he woke up we would open his crate but not Benji leave his pen until he relieved himself. After every meal we placed him in the pen. After he played and got excited we put him in his pen. Now...things have worked out so well that we can leave him in his play pen with all of his necessities for days when we are working long hours. It is perfect. Have patience. I heard it takes three months without any accidents to consider them "trained". We have had Benji for two months and usually has one or two accidents a week. But the intervals are getting longer. Good luck!
