Yes it would, and there is sure nothing wrong with a Yorkie being a little bigger. Nothing at all. They can be some very lovely animals. I occasionally get oversize also. No dog is perfect.
But the goal is not to lose breed type among other things. So to breed to perfection, which is the only reason to breed, you try to conform as close to possible to the standard. The problem is the Silky is so close in looks to the Yorkie, so unfortunately as they get to big they can start to resemble them and we have to be very careful not to let that happen.
Other breeds have the same problem. Take the Brussels Griffon, all they have to do is get nosy (a little too long a muzzle) and it becomes an Affenpincher.
Personally I think the oversize kids are absolute dolls and love them to death.
