Lydia just turned 7 months old, and I'm trying to hold out as long as safely possible. My reasoning is because of Chelsie's collapsed Trachea.
I had her spayed right at 6 months old, and she started with the coughing
episodes right after. I believe Collapsed Trachea is genetic, weak cartilige.
My concern is the trac tube that is used...seems like if they are still growing
it's not good to irritate the trachea tissue/cartilige.
I was thinking maybe 8 months, I know little dogs go into heat later than bigger dogs.

I believe you have that reversed. Big dogs go into heat later than small dogs. Yorkies can go into heat at 8 or 9 months. But is there anything wrong with waiting through her first heat cycle?
