This is great information. I know Yorkies are different because they are so much smaller. I am grateful for all the help so many of you are willing to offer. My dogs have been on Heartguard, although I took Libbie off in Jan when she was bred because I didn't know if it was a good thing to have her on while pregnant. She will be going back on it this month, we live in Utah and there isn't really any reason to be on it in the winter so the vet said they will just give it to her without making her be tested. We also don't have fleas because of the dry climate ( which isn't to say that you still couldn't get them, just not as common) She is also due to be updated on her shots. I have heard now that you should only update shots everyother year not every year as was previously thought. Any thoughts on this? My vet is very old school, which is fine as long as the health of my dogs isn't compromised but I would like to know from those of you who have bred for a long time what you think about this. Do you just do a titer test and then booster or just booster every year?
