Cat food is not bad for your dog. The vet at the Purina Animal Food Company set me straight on this many years ago. He did say, however, that cats should not eat dog food.

He said that the only problem with dogs eating cat food is that it is higher in protein and is richer than most dog food (no wonder they prefer it) - and can cause a dog to become overweigh - and, told me to keep an eye on my dog's weight.

I had two cats and my one dog for more than ten years that lived on Meow Mix (and other foods and treats, of course). Only when my dog reached about 8 years of age and was a little heavier than she should have been, did I cut back on her cat food.

So - don't worry, if your dogs steals some of the cat's food. It won't hurt her/him at all. I never gave my dog canned cat food. It also won't hurt them, but I just don't like dealing with canned cat food - even for my cat!
