Newf will do this sometimes too. If he is really hungry he will stand above the bowl and eat it all up, but if he is not so hungry he will take a few kibbles in his mouth, drop it on the carpet and eat it one by one. He used to always take his treats too and run with it and put it down somewhere and then come back looking for more. We finally figured it out what he was doing. So now he will just take a treat and eat it there because he realizes he is not gonna get more to hide for later!!!!
