I was reading this thread since I am well have a 4 month old puppy. I just wanted to tell Layla's mom that I keep my guy in an X-pen with a bed and a crate so he can crawl in for privacy if he wishes. He also has a pee-pad and a bowl of water and dry kibble for him in there. My husband is in and out of the house all day since he is self employed so many times he says he goes home and Murphy does not even want to come out - he will open the X-pen and he will come out for a bit and than go back in to sleep. I think this is your best option since it will get Layla in a schedule and she will soon learn YOUR schedule. As long as you are giving her plenty of play time at night and in the morning she should be okay staying at home with the X-pen. Good luck!
Also a question for Tarmar or anyone else ho could shed some light . Tarmar said she lets her Yorkies sleep with her, well I just started doing that because Murphy would wake up and want out of his crate at least 3 - 4 times in the night. Since I have been letting him sleep with me he sleeps through the night mostly but every now and then he will wake up and pee on the bed. Do you think he is too young to be letting him sleep in the bed with me? I mean if I hear him wake up I will take him out to potty and he will but lets face it - at 1:00am and with a 2 1/2 lb puppy sometimes I can not feel him wake up and walk around. He seems like he is doing really well at going potty outside but every now and then he will lift his leg to something at the house. I was wondering if neutering will help stop that? Thanks
