I don't think that its a good idea to keep her outside at all alone. Especially not when you leave. There are a lot of small dogs that are killed by hawks, and other preditors when they are out alone on potty breaks. There have even been yorkies attacked by kyotees when in a fenced in back yard. I am sure that you just want to give her some freedom. I would just hate for something to happen to her. I hope that she is ok, and that she just has an upset tummy or something and that she gets a clean bill of health at the vet. Good luck!
