I leave dry food down all the time for my dogs - Rowdy is an extremely picky eater - has been since the day he came home - I feel that I've begged him to eat almost every day. He's very thin and so if he will eat a few kibbles throughout the day, I am very grateful. I feed him chicken or wet food in the morning and sometimes in the evening. My senior dog will not eat on command either - he picks at the food throughout the day too.

I think all dogs are different because our new pup, Rex, is 10 weeks old and he free feeds during the day, with water down all the time. I feed him wet food when I feed Rowdy and he "holds" his pee pee really well - he always goes when I take him out in the grass and he rarely goes in the house. Of course, someone is home with him all day and so he gets taken out at least once an hour. He sleeps with me all night and holds it all night, no accidents yet! I guess I'm just lucky.
