I don't know if this will work with socks, but you could try Bitter Apple spray. I sprayed it on stuff so my Bichon would stop chewing on it. And boy did she hate the spray.
Or like someone else said, don't leave your socks in the puppy's reach. That's probably the most effective way. lol
