My girls are really affectionate. They love to be hugged and cuddled. But they also like their space at times. Ty, my male I had, he wouldn't leave my side for nothing. I even had to take him to the bathroom with me even if i was taking a bath he would lay on the floor and wait for me to get done. Females are defenitely affectionate but I think they are more independent as males are more dependent...Your male might have less problems with a female being introduced though.
