I am not sure if this is helpful, but we had a cat (THE BEST CAT EVER! MILO) in England who had his paw stung. We rushed him to the vet and all he did was run his paw under cold water and make sure the stinger was out. I'm not sure if that is correct but there was never any problems because of it.
