It's hard to know exactly what Chance is doing without seeing it. Hopefully, he is just "talking" to you when he growls and again, hopefully, he just wanted to play with the baby. But, not seeing it, I can't tell you that's what was going on for sure. Just to be on the safe side, though, I'd be extremely careful around the little one.
