I like one of the suggestions above about crate training with a big crate and putting a pee pad in half of it. Then once the puppy's bladder has grown more, take out the pee pad. Maybe around 6 months or so.

I actually don't expect my pups to be completely housebroken until they are 1. My 8 month old is doing really well, and my 3 month old is acting like a 3 month old still. But I say don't expect overnight success, it takes a lot of work!
