Well - to tell the truth - my vet said that very few dogs complain when he puts in a microchip. Unlike people, he said, they don't know that it's going to be done, aren't expecting any pain, and don't tense up. He said it's over and done before they even know it happened.....and with some immediate petting and a few friendly words, he said they are off and thinking about something else.

And - this is especially interesting. He said that how dogs accept shots or any other treatment generally has nothing to do with the size of the dog, and that some of the smaller dogs he cares for are his bravest and least complaining patients. He said a shot should not hurt a small dog any more than it would hurt a large dog (though most dog owner's find this hard to believe). There is feeling only when the needle enters the skin - not further down - and if the serum stings, it will sting any size dog equally ---- or any person for that matter.

----------

My pup is going to get microchipped. I'll let you know how it goes and how he behaves.
