I have a little guy, too, and tried the bows....it didn't work. LOL My husband & my teenage daughter were both very vocal about the "sissy-bow" and I haven't put one in since.
Although...once we let him grow out a little, there will surely be the need for a topknot, so I'm thinking the colored bands are the way to go.
