Yep there is a possibility. Loki got Giardia probably from a walk when he was little - and the vet gave him some drugs that cleared it up in a few days. Kids can also get germs playing in dirt. There's no reason not to let them go outside. Loki and I go for a walk (sometimes two) every day. He has always been trained to potty outside - even in the winter! He's perfectly healthy. I even let him go to daycare and training class and play with (more like beat up on) 100 pound dogs - he survives! You have to let them be dogs :-) Just wipe the paws when you come inside.
